Over the last 30 years, 9 people in the UK have been killed when a memorial has fallen on them. Given the number of memorials and the number of visitors to burial grounds in any year, the risk of death is very low. The risk of suffering serious injury is also extremely low, based on current statistics.
However, burial authorities do need to take the necessary precautions to manage the risk within their burial ground because they do have a duty of care to the public and everyone using a cemetery or churchyard.
G. Seller have 2 fully qualified Memorial Safety Inspectors. They have both achieved the NAMM City & Guilds NPTC Certificate of Competence for the Safety Inspection and Assessment of Memorials.
G. Seller offers a completely bespoke service of being able to assess full or part of cemetery or churchyard for the burial authority. This includes comprehensive inspection forms, together with photographic evidence of each memorial assessed.
We also have 3 fully qualified NAMM qualified fixers who can make safe any unsafe memorials, whether for your loved one or for a burial authority.
