Calligraphic 'swirl' motif

Words cannot express how sad we are to announce the passing of our beloved Jay, who died in hospital the evening of August 6th, aged 68.

He will be so missed by his wife Helen, Stepson Jonathan, daughter-in-law Hannah, sister Pip and his grandchildren, Phoebe, Amelie, Finley and Olivia. These sentiments will be echoed by the rest of his family and many dear friends.

He was a gentleman of great wisdom, kindness and endless love. Rest in eternal peace…you leave behind a void that will never be filled.

One of the blessings of joining the People’s Theatre in Newcastle was meeting and becoming friends with John. As everyone who knew John would expect, as a member of the theatre he was strong, reliable, and never afraid to take responsibility, qualities which were also reflected in his many roles on stage. More importantly, he was the best friend anyone could hope to have - kind, warm, funny, and the best company you could imagine. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Much love to Helen and all the family.

I watched as Jay grew through boyhood, teenage years, into a fine , gentle man . He will always have a special place in my heart.

I’ll miss the laughs and the chats but most of I’ll miss you John. My friend, my pal and my steadying hand in a sometimes rocky sea. Thank you my friend, god bless.
Colin
We will attend the funeral and are thinking of you all at this sad time.
