So sad to hear of Dr Cracknell’s passing. A real gentleman. Always very diligent and conscientious. So it’s no wonder he made an exceptional Doctor.
They certainly broke the mould when they made him.
Love to his family.

I am so sad to hear about Dr Ian Cracknell and I’m so sorry for his family. Ian was the only doctor I have trusted 100% with my life.
He was a true friendly character, helpful and sympathetic when ever it was needed. Thank you Ian for not just being a great GP but also being friend

Dr Cracknell was our family GP at the Maples. He was a wonderful doctor and surgeon. He was incredibly kind to me when my dad passed away and even rang us at home one evening from a social event to check how our son was after a tonsillectomy. They don't make doctors like him any more unfortunately. Rest in peace Sir. The Welford family.

What a lovely man and a great doctor. We had a great rapour, I have suffered with mental heath and IBS for 30 years. Any time I went to see him, his words would normally be, is it upstairs or down , such a lovely practical man, the surgery hasn't been the same without you and the other doctors that have retired.

Happy memories of 21 years working at The Maples with Ian at the helm.
A supportive and respected colleague and friend.
Ian was such a practical chap, I have memories of him fixing the radiator in my consulting room between surgeries! What a shame that all his practical plans for retirement were curtailed by his illness.
His minor surgical skills were invaluable to the practice, in fact when my husband Tom ( a consultant surgeon) needed glass to be taken out of his foot he asked IDC to do it. A true compliment.
A life lived to the full - RIP.

Very sad to hear the passing of Ian, he was such a fantastic and generous man, never slow to order another round, a great story teller, especially his tales of his adventures in Ax Les Thermes, a good man, one who will be missed. Rest in piece old friend xx

Practice D was our family doctors growing up and we all moved when The Maples was created. Ian had respect from every member of my family and was an excellent doctor.
I had the privilege of getting to know Ian personally through many events, meals out & especially when I decorated his ‘old’ & ‘new’ houses enabling us to chatter like old fish wives. Ian even gave me the keys to a family home in Snittersham & asked me to ‘do my magic’ there, forming a mutual respect.
Ian you will be sadly missed by many & all my family send their condolences. RIP

I have fond memories of working with Ian.I started work with him on the 13th March 1989, in what was the practice D in the health Centre, with Dr’s Lacey, Mellor, Cracknell, & Harrison, before moving down to Ian,s vision of the future the Maples. There were many highlights, including our first home birth just around the corner( I was a midwife) it’s was very snowy, and when the baby had been safely delivered I remember Ian saying ‘ I need a cup of tea after that!’ Ian had a wicked sense of humour and the parties and the NEWDOC bashes in town were legendary(Ian also helped to form NEWDOC)One thing I never let him live down, was when he fell of his bike trying to avoid a chicken as he was riding down his drive. Rest easy Ian, sincere condolences to all of his family.

Ian was not only an incredible doctor and my boss, but also a true and supportive friend both to me and my son Louis through some very difficult times. Ian has always shown the deepest care and support whilst he was a GP at Maples Practice and helped so many of the people of Hinckley.
You will be missed by all Ian, sending love and condolences to all of your family.
