My biggest regret with Alan was not meeting him earlier in my life. Alan was a genuine, honest, often funny, very intelligent guy.
In my 66 years I can count on one hand the people whom I could call a true friend, he was definitely one of those.
I know he’s left a big void in his loving families lives, I too have a void, no more foraging adventures, some a bit risky, we always had a great time, he was a great man.
Thank you mate for being a good friend. If there is an ‘other side’ you are one of the few, I’d love to meet again.

Alan - a dear friend for over 30 years. A kind gentleman who loved and lived for his family. His depth of interest in things that mattered to him such as wildlife and the environment was amazing and he loved to share this information with others. He will be missed by many people. Rest in peace Alan xx

I'll never forget Alan's excited comment many years ago, that in regard to him and his siblings, I was their "only uncle." It seemed to mean a lot to him, as indeed it did to me. Although Canada is far away, we are with you all in grieving the passing of Alan. Mick (Robin) and Brenda

Alan- what a brilliant character!
So many brilliant and hilarious memories of you- from premonitions, to getting lost in the forest up the mountain, to swinging from the balconies, to getting ran over by a snow plough- enough skiing memories to fill a book!
Not only snow- we also had a laugh in the water, with so many raft building and racing memories.
So many weekends away with the Bees Jnees, you were the life and soul of the party..
You certainly filled your life with laughter and caring Alan.
You were a wonderful friend.
All my love to Cindy and the family xxxxx
