We are delighted to announce that we are Finalists in the Corporate Social Responsibility category of the Midlands Family Business Awards 2016. Sponsored by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, the Corporate Social Responsibility award recognises family businesses that are committed to making a difference through their CSR activities, demonstrating how their values have a positive impact on their people, their community and the environment.
Joseph Barsby, Director of G. Seller & Co. Ltd, said: “On behalf of the family and all our staff we are thrilled with this nomination as we recognise the importance of being part of the community in which we operate and have done for over 100 years. Family values and community spirit are at the very heart of what we do as a business and to be recognised in these awards, against some other great family businesses is a real honour. These awards go a long way to giving recognition to family firms across the region and we are really appreciative that our endeavours have been recognised. Our staff work hard to engage locally and recent events supported by us as an organisation include involvement with the local Bowls Tournament, a charity 'bake-off' in aid of The Dorothy Goodman School, supporting the local football and rugby teams, and physically embarking on a sponsored challenge to run 2,016 miles in 2016! We really do try and go the extra mile!"
The judges look into the underlying CSR initiatives, they way it is embedded into the culture of the business, how the activities are guided by the family and their values and the longer term support of the community for years to come.
