How Isla Stones Raised Awareness Of Childhood Cancer – The Isla Tansey Story
In 2017 when 7-year-old Isla Tansey was diagnosed with terminal cancer she began a campaign to decorate 'Isla Stones’ which she gave to her friends and family to hide.
Isla lost her battle to the very rare childhood cancer DIPG in 2018 and her legacy in the form of ‘Isla Stones’ made their way all over the world.
The Islastones Foundation is now a registered charity raising money for research into Childhood Cancer, as well as awarding grants to affected families.
This episode released on Wednesday 15th February 2023 - International Childhood Cancer Day, featuring Isla’s parents Katherine & Simon, serves to raise awareness of childhood cancers, the Islastone campaign and provide support to any other families experiencing the loss of a child.
In support of the fantastic work achieved by the Islastones Foundation, we have decorated 20 Islastones and hidden them around Hinckley, Burbage, Earl Shilton, Barwell, Stoney Stanton, Sapcote & Broughton Astley. The locations have been revealed on our Facebook & Instagram pages, and we are encouraging people to find our painted stones, photograph them, post and re-hide to raise smiles and help to fight childhood cancer.
