Thinking about a funeral plan often raises many questions. That is completely natural. Most people want reassurance that they are making the right decision not just financially but emotionally for themselves and for their family.

Below we answer some of the most common questions we are asked at G. Seller. If anything remains unclear we are always here to talk things through at your pace.

Can anyone apply for an Independent Way Funeral Plan?

Yes. An Independent Way Funeral Plan is available to all UK residents regardless of age or state of health.

If you choose the Installment Payment Option you will need to be under the age of 78 at the start of the plan and complete all payments by your 80th birthday. Our planning consultants will always guide you through the options that are right for your circumstances.

What if my circumstances change?

Life changes and plans sometimes need to change too.

If your personal circumstances change you can contact us or Golden Charter for support and advice. We will help you understand your options and make any necessary adjustments with care and clarity.

What happens when I pass away?

It is important that your next of kin or close family know that you have a funeral plan in place.

When you sadly pass away your loved one simply needs to contact G. Seller. From that moment we will take care of everything. Your personal funeral director will guide your family through the arrangements ensuring your wishes are honoured exactly as planned.

What happens if I die in another country?

If you travel overseas we recommend ensuring your travel or medical insurance includes repatriation cover to the UK.

Your funeral plan covers the transportation of the deceased from a UK mainland airport or port to G. Seller’s funeral home. We will then take care of the funeral arrangements as planned.

What happens if I pass away before I’ve made all the payments?

This depends on the payment option you have chosen.

For some plans including installment options there may be protections in place once a certain number of payments have been made. Full details are outlined in the key features document and our consultants will always explain this clearly before you proceed.

Can I transfer my plan to someone else?

Yes. Once the full cost of the plan has been paid you can transfer the benefit of your funeral plan to a nominated family member or friend if they pass away before you.

If they live some distance away there may be additional transportation costs or you may choose to appoint a different funeral director. We recommend speaking with one of our planning consultants who will talk you through this carefully based on your individual situation.

Can I take a plan out for someone else?

Yes you can.

You will need to complete the plan holder’s representative section of the application and all correspondence will be sent directly to you. This is often chosen by partners or family members who wish to look after arrangements in advance.

What if I move to a different area?

If you move out of the area please inform Golden Charter.

Your plan can usually be transferred. However G. Seller are also willing to continue caring for you in other parts of the country wherever possible as promised. In some cases there may be additional costs and we will always explain these clearly before anything is agreed.

What if I change my mind?

If you cancel your plan within 30 days of receiving your plan documents you will receive a full refund.

If you choose to cancel after 30 days the terms are clearly set out in the key features document. We always encourage you to take time to read this and ask any questions before proceeding.

Planning ahead should never feel rushed or pressured. Asking questions is part of doing things properly. If you would like to talk through anything in more detail we are here to listen and to look after you as if you were part of our own family.
