Meet the family

Meet the family

Joseph C. Barsby

Managing Director

I joined G. Seller in October 2011 and proudly became the 3rd generation of the Barsby family to come into the company. I had previously set up my own business in sports nutrition at the age of 18. I started in the memorial department, learning all aspects of memorial masonry before progressing to become the Memorial Masonry Manager. I became a qualified memorial fixer and memorial safety inspector. In 2014, my wife, Amy moved into the family business to take over my role. This meant that I could have a more holistic role within the firm, allowing me to arrange and conduct funerals, be involved with Pre-Paid Funeral Plans, Accounts and the overall development of the business.

I am a sports and car fanatic. I am an avid Leicester City fan and have a season ticket with my father, David. I also love to watch Rugby, Cricket, Formula 1 and Boxing.

A short note of personal thanks to you at this difficult time. Your personal guidance, support and steadying hand was very much appreciated.

You helped to make my Dad’s funeral the perfect balance of solemnity but also a celebration of his life. I got through the eulogy knowing that Malcolm and yourself were ‘at hand’ if required.
Dear Joseph,

Thank you is just two little words that really don’t seem enough for all the care that you and your lovely staff showed towards Dad but also the care that you gave to us as a family. To lose any family member is so painful, but having so many little acts of kindness during this difficult time are appreciated more than words can say. Your patience with Mum and support helped her through the difficult process of preparing Dad for his final journey. The care and attention to detail that Sellers demonstrated to Dad was exceptional and we really felt that you treated Dad as if he was one of your own family.

So on behalf of the family, I would like to offer our profound thanks to all of you at Sellers, to all those who prepared Dad, the lovely reception staff, helpful & polite drivers and of course your good self.
Fantastic family run funeral directors, showing the upmost respect to the families & loved ones of the deceased. When my grandad passed away, their approach was similar to family rather than business minded and we were extremely happy with their care and services. Taking into consideration the family’s thoughts, feelings, needs and how they can suit their needs. They are genuinely passionate about providing outstanding services and also supporting the local community around them.
After losing my brother, my Mum had to find the best place for my brother to be looked after for his funeral. Joseph was a very friendly, kind and caring person. He helped in every possible way, always above and beyond! The family are very helpful and kin also. Not a nice place to be but they make it as nice as possible and very welcoming.
I just wanted to say how grateful I am for all you did for me and my family and my Dad’s funeral. I just wanted to say an extra thank you to Ben, Michael and the other pall bearers. As you know I wanted to carry my Dad to his final place of rest and with the help from yourself and all your team, I was able to do this last wish.

Me and my Dad were very close and seeing him pass away was the worst day of my life, that will stay with me forever. I was dreading seeing him in the Chapel of Rest but I need to see him at rest one last time. When I first walked in seeing him it was like I had my old Dad back before his illness and all the weight loss, you can’t imagine how that made me feel inside spending time with him that one last day talking about all the fun times we had together will stay with me forever.

I know my Dad would have been so proud of the way we sent him off, there’s not a day goes by that I don’t think or wish I could have him back with us. With the help from you Joseph, the whole day was amazing and the music reflected my Dads personalist brilliantly. I am so thankful of the special piece of jewellery that lets mw be close again with him. I can’t put into words how thankful I am to you all, you made me feel at ease from the hugs you gave at just the right times to your touching ceremony as we laid Dad to rest at the Church. You are an amazing gentleman with a heart of gold.
If Carlsberg did Funeral Directors, there is good, there is a step above, then there is G. Seller.

We cannot begin to express what you have done for us and Dad. From initial contact, looking after Dad & accommodating our every need, your respect, compassion and personal service have made a very difficult time, much easier to deal with.

With us from day one, communication, help and advice has been first class. Nothing was too much trouble and our decision to use your Service Chapel & Catering Suits was the perfect send off for Dad.

All staff, at all times were truly amazing

Joseph you have awesome throughout and your commitment and attention to detail are what make G. Seller so great.

Your care and compassion at what was a horrendous time, losing our baby, during, and still now, will always stay with myself and my family. Joseph, Amy, Kevin & the rest of the team are brilliant, and you should be very proud of what you have achieved and what you will continue to achieve in the future.
As the manager of a local care home for 34 years, I attended many funerals where families had chosen Sellers to look after them. I feel that I am in an excellent position to vouch for their service.

Amy E. Barsby

Director

I joined G. Seller in December 2014 after working in events from the age of 16. I was appointed events manager in a 5* hotel at the tender age of 19. I have also looked after events for Arsenal FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Wembley, Wimbledon Tennis and Volvo cars. I am a qualified memorial safety inspector and play a key role in the day to day running of the memorial department.

I love to go skiing and have done so since I was 3! I like to keep fit and go to the gym with my husband, Joseph and like to keep up to date with the showbiz news.

Amy & Sharn also were a pleasure to work with when choosing Mums memorial, highly recommended
Thank you very much for all of your help with our family’s memorial. You are friendly, helpful and approachable.

Thank you again.
I am so pleased with the beautiful workmanship and the 2 gentleman who fitted the memorial were amazing, so respectful and caring. A massive thank you to the whole Sellers team.
Hello Amy I love the memorial. I can’t tell you how pleased I am.

Thanks for going the extra mile and for being patient.
Dear Amy,

I want to say an enormous thank you, for what you have done for me. I can’t find the words to thank you enough. I will never forget your kindness. In life, if you are fortunate enough, you meet some ‘special people.’ You are indeed special!

Having suffered a close bereavement in my early teens, my decision to pursue a career in the Funeral Business was purely vocational. I joined G. Seller in 1984 on a Youth Training Scheme and trained as an embalmer, mentored by David Barsby.

In my career which spans over 30 years, I have worked nationwide within the funeral profession, and have been a member of a specialist Worldwide Disaster team, assisting in the repatriation of air-crash victims. I am qualified embalmer, hold the Diploma in Funeral Directing, and I’m a Member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors.

I enjoy spending my down time at home with my partner, Karen. I am also ‘Mummy’ to Dotty and Bertie, known as Team Westie!

To Rhonda,

Just wanted to say a personal big thank you on behalf of myself and the family.

In a time of sadness & loss, and when you don’t really know what to do and where to turn. To hear a friendly voice on the end of the phone was a huge comfort to us all….and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Dear Rhonda & Kevin,

Thank you for all your time and patience making sure everything was right for our loved one’s funeral.

In particular, your efforts in getting him back from the hospital as soon as possible.

Please pass on our thanks to everyone who made the funeral go as smoothly as it did.
To Rhonda,

Just wanted to say a personal big thank you on behalf of myself and the family.

In a time of sadness & loss, and when you don’t really know what to do and where to turn. To hear a friendly voice on the end of the phone was a huge comfort to us all….and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To Kevin & Rhonda,

I would like to express my most sincere thanks to you all for the caring & compassionate way that you looked after Dad.

Kevin – Your help and assurance with the funeral invaluable and so much appreciated. I knew you would take care of everything for us.

Rhonda – I can’t ever thank you enough for making Dad look so peaceful and perfect – and just like Dad was. I shall never forget that as it has given me such peace of mind after seeing him in the Chapel of Rest. You are truly gifted.

You are all so good at what you do – it makes a huge difference to people who are in shock and grieving.
Dear Rhonda,

How do we begin to thank you for all your support and being there for me.

It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, and you were there by my side making what was impossible, possible.

I will never be able to repay you for the kindness and help and for what you did, and I will never forget it.

You are a very special person Rhonda.
To Rhonda & everyone at G. Seller

We both just wanted to say a big thank you for all of your help with our loved one and his memorial service. You made a very difficult time, much more bearable.
Just a little note to send a HUGE, thank you to you for the wonderful care and kindness you extended to Mum, myself and our family following the passion of my amazing Dad.

Your warmth and support were so greatly appreciated at a time we really needed it, especially my wonderful Mum.

You went that extra mile to make sure that a very daunting task was dealt with in the most caring and loving way possible.

Kevin Draper

Senior Funeral Director

I came to G. Seller, in 2001, as a casual Driver and Pall Bearer. At this time, I had my own business as a Haulage Contractor, but as I spent more time working for G. Seller, I realised that I had found my vocation, and in early 2005 joined the company on a full-time basis, as a funeral operative. Since this time, I have progressed through to Senior Funeral Director, becoming professionally qualified in 2011. My main role is to arrange and conduct funerals, and also oversee our dedicated team of Funeral Directors.

I live locally, am happily married, and have two children, who are growing up fast. During my leisure time, I am a keen cyclist, and enjoy researching Aviation history.

Dear Kevin,

On behalf of my family, I wanted to pass on our heartfelt thanks for your support and professionalism.

You helped to make my fathers funeral, truly a celebration of his life.
Just to say a really big thank you to G. Seller and staff. Special thanks to Kevin Draper for his diligent and compassionate way he managed the funeral arrangements. Without his help and advice, we would have struggled at this sad time.

Thanks again to Kevin who organised the ‘Bagpiper’ so well received, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
Dear G. Seller,

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to you all for your professional treatment of our family throughout the sad process of dealing with the passing of my dear Mum. All the G. Seller team treated us with the utmost consideration and respect.

We would like to give special thanks to Kevin Draper who was not only professional, considerate and respectful but was also very friendly, caring, sensitive, thoughtful and kind.

I would like to further acknowledge the hard work of the person that looked after my Mum, I was greatly comforted by the peacefulness presented.

Kevin, you and your colleagues turned a traumatic situation into one that I could handle and for that, I am eternally grateful.
To Kevin & the wonderful team at G. Seller

Thank you so much for looking after Mum and for the amazing send off you gave her.

So professional and personal from start to finish.
To Kevin & all at G. Seller

I loved the words in the Chapel of Rest that she rested in, so poignant and a flower she loved.

Thank you so much for all your words, care & support over the last few weeks. You gave us such support & reassurance to get through it all.
Thank you so much to all the wonderful team at G. Seller for the compassion, care and support given to me and my family at this sad time.

Thank for your professionalism and your attention to detail, nothing was too much trouble.

Thank you to Kevin who said ‘Don’t worry I won’t let you forget anything’ and he most certainly didn’t. Everything went like clockwork and could not have gone better.

Thank you to Rhonda for your friendly, personal approach and for going the extra mile. You are an angel!

Thank you to Joe for yet again having very comforting words when Mum’s cremated remains were laid to rest. Another job well done.

Thank you to everyone behind the scenes, Mum looked beautiful in her wedding outfit, with super match to match. You made a difficult decision, much easier. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. A super job, really professionally done! Mum was so special to me and you made a difficult time more bearable.
I wish to convey my sincere thanks to everyone at G. Seller. Following the sad loss of my father, the support, kindness and dignity shown to the family by the Sellers family was quite exceptional.

From my initial conversation with Kevin, the attention and consideration was without comparison.

Kevin unexpectedly personally attended the conveyance of my father from the care home, this was done with dignity and sensitivity for which I will be forever grateful. Kevin then guided my brother and I through all the necessary administration and organising with care and professionalism.

To then take of us on the day of the funeral and also the interment, I again extend my grateful thanks to him for his kindness and sympathetic attention.

Thanks again to everyone at G. Seller

Joe M. Clarke-Ferridge

Funeral Director

I started my career in the funeral industry when I was 16 working with my Dad who was a funeral director in the Peterborough area. I started working at G. Seller when I was 24 as a funeral operative. In my years in this role I learnt the importance of looking after family’s loved ones and the attention to detail required to carry out a funeral properly. I was taught the embalming procedure, a skill that I am very proud of and through much hard work I am now a qualified funeral director and feel privileged to be in a position to help people at such a difficult time.

I enjoy running and watching most sports. I am a West Ham United football fan. Despite not growing up in the area I have found the community to be very welcoming, except maybe for a few language barriers particularly when discussing the particulars of the difference between a bread roll’ and a ‘cob’.

Dear Joe,

I would like to express my gratitude for the quality of the service you provide for us, your handling of our initial inquiry couldn’t have been more reassuring and delicately handled. The actual funeral service for my Mum was dignified and moving – so a big thank you to you and your staff.
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making Mum’s funeral special and something we will remember always!

We just want to say thank you to you all for the help and support and compassion that you have showed us in preparing Mums funeral. It helped us immensely during a difficult time.

Thank you especially to you Joe, for being there every step of the way, it was much appreciated and you were always there to help with any questions, no matter how trivial. I’m sure Mum would have been happy with how everything went – I know we were.

Please pass on our thanks to the catering lady for helping on the day with the refreshments. It was a lovely buffet and it was enjoyed by all.

Thank you so much for all your support before, during and after the passing of my stepmother. It was much appreciated.

Thank you and all the staff for the funeral arrangements and the excellent catering
Dear Joe,

A note to thank you very much for all your help with the funeral arrangements. I did appreciate your unhurried & meticulous input, I didn’t have to worry about anything. I can also say you were exceptionally professional and you were all immaculately turned out.
Joe,

Thank you so much for ensuring that all aspects of the funeral were carried out efficiently and with dignity. It was very comforting to us. Alas, thank you sincerely for the kindness, caring & friendliness you have shown in all our meetings with you
Dear Joe,

A special note of praise for you. Your profession is blessed to have such an exceptional person in its fold. Your ability to judge the pace at which a family can progress these matters and to navigate them sensitivity through all that was needed was outstanding. Your attention to each and every detail was faultless. You are selflessly aware of others’ needs and coupled with skilfully knowing how and when to engage moments of gentle humour, you did all you could to make the experience as stress free as possible. You are clearly made for being a funeral director; we shall be forever grateful for meeting you.

Kate Bilclough

Funeral Director

I started at G. Seller in September 2011 after having a career change from being a Travel Agent for 7 years. I started as memorial consultant and gradually learnt more about funeral administration. I have since looked after Pre-Paid Funerals, memorials and assisted with funeral arranging. In 2017, i became a full time Funeral Director, having the privilege of arranging and conducting funerals which I see as a great honour.

I have 2 children and a puppy Pug which keep me busy. In October 2015 we all went to Florida for my partner and I of 14 years to get married. I have been brought up as a huge Leicester City fan since I was 5 years old and I enjoy watching my son play every Sunday morning.

Meeting Kate was a lovely experience. She was very caring to myself and my daughter, she felt like family, so calming.
Also to all of the girls I meet at the funeral home were all kind and gracious, especially after going to the Chapel of Rest, which I found a beautiful, tranquil experience.

Every plan we wanted was provided, all to my husbands wishes, we felt we had done him proud.
G. Seller, in particular Kate did a fantastic funeral for my son. Can’t thank you enough. Thoughtful and compassionate they did all I asked for and more. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and recommend them highly.
An excellent family run funeral directors who go above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect and your requirements are met. Kate was a pleasure to work with & showed the upmost care & consideration. The whole service was second to none.

Amy & Sharn also were a pleasure to work with when choosing Mums memorial, highly recommended.
I would like to place on record on behalf of the family and friends of our loved one, their heartfelt thanks and admiration for the excellent organisation of the funeral managed by yourselves – it was faultless.

Reaching lifes end can be very traumatic but each and everyone of you made this so much easier and for this I shall always be grateful.

There are so many things you could mention that have happened in the past few weeks but that would be unfair as you all gave so much and I would prefer to say ‘Team GS’ were quite amazing, no one could have been kinder, professional or done more.
An amazing funeral directors. When I went in recently after losing my husband, I was handed over to Kate. I couldn’t have been in better hands, she made this awful situation as bearable as it could be and on the day of his funeral, she conducted herself with the utmost respect & professionalism. Thank you personally but also thank you to all the team that looked after my treasured soul mate.
I am writing on behalf of myself and the family to thank you for your considerable kindness and professionalism shown throughout the period of planning and implementation of our loved ones funeral.

You provided help and support when needed, taking us through a very difficult period of our lives with thoughtful and support proposals and an unerring ability to understand our wishes.

Following this experience I have now no doubt that your job is one of the most important careers any one can take up, significant to us all and one that requires absolute commitment, a calling indeed. As one of your colleagues said you only have one chance to get it right so that you do not spend a life time of regret, and you created the chance for us to do just that and we did it.

So thank you again and please pass on our thanks to your entire team who were quite simply magnificent.
