I began my career at G Seller in September 2019 after a number of years working as a police officer.
After researching the role and from personal knowledge of G Seller who have looked after members of my family in the past I decided to apply for the role of a funeral operative.
My day to day role at G Seller is incredibly rewarding but also challenging. My colleagues and I pride ourselves of offering the very best to the families we have the honour of serving during the most difficult time of their lives.
My duties as a funeral operative include.
Conveying the deceased from hospitals, homes, care establishments back to our chapel of rest.
Working a 24/7 on call rota to bring people into our care and also act on behalf of the coroner. Part of this is often being the first point of face to face contact that families have with the G Seller family.
Preparing the deceased for their funerals, by fitting their coffins, dressing them, laying them to rest, all whilst maintaining the dignity they deserve.
Preparing vehicles to ensure they are cleaned and polished to a high standard.
Working with the funeral directors and memorial masons to ensure that everything runs perfectly leading up to and on the day of the funeral, and the aftercare that follows.
On the day of the funeral as a funeral operative I will be at the funeral, driving vehicles such as the hearse to convey the deceased and the limousines to ensure the families can say their farewells to their loved ones. I also will be bearing the deceased in their coffin during services and burials.
The role itself is physically and emotionally tiring at times however I take great pride in my role being able to care for the deceased as if they were part of my family, and enjoy working within such a close knit family team.
