The Safe, Simple Way To Secure Peace Of Mind For You & Your Family
We work in association with Golden Charter. They are a trusted, independent funeral plan provider which we have worked in association with for many years.
We endeavour to make sure that putting together a funeral plan will mean your loved ones are spared much of the stress and uncertainty of organising a funeral when you sadly pass away. Our Independent Way Funeral Plan allows you to tailor make the plan, no matter how simple or unique.
You can specify every detail in advance and take care of all of the costs within our control, which protects your family from rising funeral costs.
You may also have seen many companies advertising Pre-Paid Funeral Plans. We always advise caution. The Co-Operative Society have their own plans, as do the larger conglomerate Dignity Funeral Services. Dignity are a company who have no local funeral homes in the Hinckley & Bosworth area (July 2015.) We would also recommend caution when considering plans being sold by cold-calling, mail drops, newspaper and magazine flyers, coupons, Will-Writers and Independent Financial Advisers (IFA’s). You cannot be guaranteed that the plan you may be sold will be undertaken by your preferred Funeral Director or what the plan actually includes.
Arranging Your Funeral Plan
We put your funeral plan together with the same level of detail as if it was today.
A lot of funeral plans are ‘set,’ which means that very few of your wishes or requests are taken into consideration. This means that when the time comes, your family have a lot of decisions to make on your behalf.
We recommend to arrange an appointment with us, either at your home or in our funeral home to sit down and go through everything. We can then provide you with an itemised quotation tailored to you. This allows you to make a truly informed decision.
Guarenteed Professional Services
A funeral plan is split into two parts; our professional services and third party costs, sometimes referred to as disbursements.
Our professional services include but are not limited to conveying you into our care, arranging your funeral, liaising with all third parties, your coffin, hearse, any limousines you may want or a memorial.
Third party costs are items outside of our control. These include the minister or officiant fees, the crematorium or burial fee, the doctors medical certificates, newspaper notices and floral tributes. These are still included in your plan and are paid at today’s prices. However, if the cost of these rise higher than the amount in your plan and any growth, then an additional payment may be requested from your family or estate when you pass away.
Protection Against Rising Funeral Costs
The rising cost of a funeral has outstripped the rate of inflation and increased significantly over the last decade, in fact by some 103% over the last 11 years according to the SunLife Cost of Dying Report 2016. This has been mainly due to rising third party costs, such as crematorium fees.
Paying in advance for your funeral is a sensible decision that could benefit your family or estate. We guarantee that, as long as your plan is paid for, there’ll be nothing more to pay for your funeral director’s services included in the plan.
A Sound Financial Decision
When you take out an Independent Way Plan, you have the reassurance that your money is protected. You select how you wish to pay for your plan and, depending on your choice, you money is paid into the Golden Charter Trust.
Your money grows and when the time comes, we receive the payment, including any growth, and use this money to provide the agreed services to your family. No matter how much costs have risen in the intervening period, your loved ones will not be asked for a penny more for the guaranteed services included within your plan.
A Real Alternative To Saving
We believe a funeral plan offers a better option than saving for your funeral.
In 2004, if you had put £1,920 (the average cost of a funeral at that point) into a building society, you would have seen it grow to only £2,167.91 (Building Societies Association, average savings rate) over the next 10 years.
However, with the average cost of a funeral now £3,897, your family would have to find an additional £1,709.21, at an incredibly difficult time. This dramatic shortfall demonstrates why planning your funeral the Independent Way is the most prudent way.
What Happens To My Money
Your money is put into the Golden Charter Trust. This is a separate financial entity from us at G. Seller and Golden Charter. it is ring fenced and if Golden Charter or G. Seller ceased to exist, this would not affect future payments for funerals.
Flexible Ways To Pay
There are various ways to pay for your funeral plan; you can pay in full, pay over 12 months at no extra interest, pay over a period of between 2 and 30 years or pay a fixed monthly payment until you pass away or aged 90.
